Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came early to the tomb, while it was still dark, and saw the stone already taken away from the tomb. John 20:1 (NASB)
This joyful Eastertide! We join with the Church throughout the world greeting one another, “Christ is risen! He is risen, indeed! Alleluia! We, like Mary, may even rise all the earlier today to rejoice again in the truth that Jesus is not dead but lives and reigns as our Savior and King.
This is the joy that comes at the end of our 40-day journey through Lent. This is the joy that comes after the disciplines of Lent when we no longer look for hope in ourselves but for the hope that can only come as a free gift from Christ Himself. Today, throughout this season of Easter, and every day, we remember the words of Romans 6:4 (ESV) “We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.”
This joy is for all who believe and the blessed message shared by all who serve Him.
